As you may or may not know Shawn Kemp Jr. Is the son of Sonics stud and daddy dud, Shawn Kemp. The Kemp family has lived a highly publicized life, having to deal first with Shawn seniors’ highly flamboyant NBA career and second his drug and addiction problems, not to mention his debacle at Kentucky. Kemp’s entire life has been displayed over the air waves of ESPN and FSN like a soap opera of sorts.
The Kemp name has had a chance to be out of the constant scrutiny that the media produced for a couple of years. The down time produced another chance for the Kemp name, Shawn Kemp Jr. Junior has shattered the slience with huge tomahawk dunks. Kemp Jr. is a 6′9 defenders nightmare, tabbed as a project by some and a phenom by others. I guess it depends on how critical you are.
The kid is extremely athletic and has a nice repertoire of post moves. Kemp Jr, is in so many ways his fathers son, passionate, confident and plays like he hates the rim. Kemp has a fairly large list of interested high major teams: Alabama, UCON, IU, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Ole Miss and Tennessee are some of his notable options. Alabama is believed to be the favorite for the young talent’s services. The Cat’s have been in contact with Kemp for sometime, but as of now no formal offer has been extended. Kemp Jr. did tell Scout.com in late May that he believed an offer from IU was on the horizon. It has also been reported that UCON has been showing heavy interest in Jr. of late. If you haven’t seen the kid in action and would like to, there are a couple of videos in the recruiting central player on the right.
For now, Jr has detached himself from his fathers’ more recent, forgetable past. Planting himself squarly in 1996, in a pair of his fathers Kamikaze’s, vicously attacking the rim and most importantly on the right track.
