Mike Moser Commits to Arizona

Labels: ,

It was rumored awhile back that the talented forward had committed to Oregon. Tuesday it came to fruition that the 6'8 athletic wonder had committed to play for coach Olson. Moser makes the second commitment of the 09' class, joining 6'8 center Greg Smith. Moser was an interesting prospect to me. He can play multiple positions and is a proven winner. Moser helped to lead his team to the Oregon class 6A title this past season. Grant (22-6) squared off against favored Oregon City ( 28-2) in a highly anticipated contest. Moser was definitely the key to his teams 63-56 victory, scoring 20 points and pulling down 13 boards in clutch fashion.

I like the one liner that Rivals.com uses to describe the kid “intriguing forward with length and versatility”. Rivals does a great job of really summing up the reasoning behind the recent migration of scouts to the great northwest - intrigue. In an AAU game this past summer Moser went toe to toe with 5 star recruit, Jordan Hamilton, and finished the game with 10 points and 13 boards. Moser’s length and ability to play multiple positions put him right into the mold of a Billy Gillispie recruit.

There had been some interest on both sides as far as the Cat's go. With other targets given more priority (rightfully so) the chances of actually landing the kid were slim.
